Responsive/Adaptive Update

August 2015: We've updated spaceweirdo.com to provide a better viewing experience in a wide range of devices. This was easier thought than done, so we feel pretty smug about it.

While we were at it, we decided to drop our purist approach and welcomed JavaScript into our midst, in order to include audio player functionality. We hope that you'll like the result and that selling our souls was worth it.

October 2012 - Website upgrade

Space Weirdo's website undergoes a major rehash with some goals in mind:

  • Simplicity: Less sections, better organization of data and content, especially for maintenance purposes (this is actually good, since the guy in charge of maintenance is pretty lazy and is now writing about himself in the third person.)
  • Consistency: A new layout makes navigation consistent across the site. This may just mean that the site is consistently unbrowsable.
  • Obscurity: The best design practices counsel that content should be self-evident at a glance. Boldly going where many an idiot has gone before, we'd like you to play a little and discover stuff in subsections by clicking on meaningless abbreviations.
  • New tech: We like to play with new toys and wanted to see what the CSS3 rage was all about.
  • Silliness: You'll know it when you see it. It lurks almost everywhere.
  • New look: Yes, sometimes we're shallow that way.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our site. If you have comments, suggestions or outraged criticism, please let us know.

Oct 2007 - Ansible Mention

Issue #243 (Oct. 2007) of Ansible, David Langford's SF newsletter—source of all the SF gossip that you don't need but can't live without—features a mention of Space Weirdo and Automata. Clearly not happy with that, Mr. Langford committed further promotional felony by placing the helmets-off snapshot of James Mk II as the header illustration. Our warm thanks to Mr. Langford for his multi-dimensional kindness and a hearty salute to all the Ansible regulars that dropped in for a visit.
